Health Care Update - Urgent Call to Action!

Dear Policy Patriots -

Thanks to you, the Free Our Health Care NOW! campaign has made unprecedented progress in the fight against government-run health care. More than 1,350,000 Americans have joined you in signing the Free Our Health Care NOW! petition; and Policy Patriots like you have sent 368,000 emails to Congress!

You're making a difference in the campaign against government-run health care! Senate Democrats have gutted the bill, losing the 55 Medicare option, and the public option. This is not about health care, it is about passing a bill at any cost to you! Here is what Howard Dean had to say about it.

The Debate is Far From Over! The cry from the White House is for the Senate to pass anything and then they can fix it. However, after the Senate passes something, all of the differences with the House Bill will have to be resolved, and then both houses will have to pass it again before it is law. We need you to act now!

Urgent Call to Action! Fighting Government-Run Health Care Is Just a Phone Call Away! The next phase of the Free Our Health Care NOW! campaign has begun and we need your help. According to an ABC/Post poll, 53 percent disapprove of Obama's work on health care, and the public (by 51-44 percent) now opposes the reform package in Congress. You've written letters; now it's time to make a phone call. The call is free and takes less than five minutes. You can make a difference.

It's as easy as 1-2-3. All you have to do is:

  • Enter your information and click TAKE ACTION!
  • Pick up your phone and dial the toll free number connecting you to your Senators.

Worried about what you'll say? Make these three major points:

"Please vote NO to government-run health care." It's a classic, but it works. Every Congressional office has a tally sheet and they keep track of voters' opinions the same way that they did when they received opposition telegrams. By saying the magic words-Vote NO-you add your mark to the tally sheet. Enough marks on the tally sheet and your Senators will stop thinking about government-run health care and start thinking about Election Day.

"What's the Rush?!?" Current versions of health care reform legislation are atrocities of incoherence. As you would imagine, bitterly partisan, overly ambitious, and hurried lawmaking create divisive, confusing, and ineffective laws. Health care reform is too important to do it poorly. It's reasonable to ask that your Senators to do it the right way.

"Job #1 Should Be Jobs, Not Government-Run Health Care." With 17 percent as the real rate of unemployed Americans, we're thinking about the economy, not more government regulation of health care. Congress should be, too. Unfortunately for all of us, they're not. Tell Congress that it should get its priorities straight.

"I'm Not Just a Voter, I'm Your Boss." Citizens like you are the lifeblood of politicians. You donate to campaigns, volunteer for get-out-the-vote drives and vote on Election Day. You pay the taxes that Congress is currently doling out like Monopoly money. Your hard work and commitment not only entitles you to an opinion, but a right to be heard.

Please, make the call. We're fighting government-run health care like our lives depend on it for one simple reason: for many of us, they do. To call your Senator, go to the phone and call here.
